']'his research is focusing on removing iron (II) from groundwater by oxidation through normal and aerated lagoon. The experiment will focuses to find the optimum p1-1 of sample based on the different pl I. From the experiment conducted, the optimum pl-I is at p1-17. The desired colour also is another factor why p1-17 is considered as optimum pH. For example, even though the colour of pH2 is within the allowable limit, but the iron concentration is high due to zero precipitation observation during experiment. Another consideration that needs to stress is cost. The cost will main factor doing any treatment water. Even though there is more modern technology. the cost will be high because the technology is limited. In addition, the conventional treatment can save a lot of money

Stability Through Economic Growth in Afghanistan

    Get PDF
This thesis analyzes the Afghan public’s opinion to identify the overall direction of the country, whether the country, in terms of economic growth, is moving in a positive direction or not. How do economic factors affect the public’s views on the direction of the country? Based on that, this study finds that economic growth has an effect on the Afghan public’s opinion on the country’s direction. Afghans are not enjoying stability in their country yet, after the majority of Afghans accepted U.S. military intervention in 2001 and the establishment of the new government to end instability. It was not an easy transformation for the Afghan people. Some communities welcomed U.S. military intervention and the establishment of a new government. However, some Afghan communities became opposed to this transformation. This thesis informs us about the differences, opportunities, barriers, and gaps related to those two camps which have delayed democratization, state-building, and political and economic transformation processes. Due to some strategic mistakes and shortcomings related to the opportunities and barriers that were within those two camps, the chances of economic investment, state-building, job creation, and investing in the safe-zone region in Afghanistan were wasted

A Study of Astronomical Polarization, Polarimetric Observations and Polarimetry of Exoplanets

    Get PDF
Astronomical polarization has become one useful tool to study a number of astronomical objects and related astrophysical mechanisms. The polarization of electromagnetic waves is caused by various astronomical phenomena. One such phenomenon is when the light emitting from a planet(s) hosting star is reflected by the orbiting planet(s). However, the degree of polarization due to such events is tiny and their observations require highly sensitive polarimeters. DiPol-2 is a one such high sensitivity polarimeter that can measure polarization degree of more than 10−510^{-5}. The polarimeter is presently installed with T60 telescope at Haleakal\={a} observatory in Hawaii and is operated remotely by Physics and Astronomy department at University of Turku. We used DiPol-2 to observe a hot Jupiter exoplanet named υ\upsilon And b in B, V and R passbands. These observations were made using the combination of T60 and DiPol-2. It was the first time that these instruments were used together to record polarimetric observations of an exoplanet. Stokes parameters describe the state of polarization and variations in these parameters can help to deduce orbital parameters and/or stellar, planetary characteristics. This process however requires that data visualization to be compared with numerous models that have been developed to interpret polarimetric observations. The polarimetric observations started in the second half of 2016 and continued till early 2019. We observed the target whenever observing time allocation and observation conditions allowed it. The observational data then went through a lengthy process of data transfer and data reduction. For data analysis, Lomb-Scargle algorithm was used to deduce orbital periods present in the data. Lomb-Scargle periodogram showed a number of peaks with different orbital periods. It was deduced that the presence of multiple orbital periods was due to magnetic activity on the stellar surface that contaminated polarimetric signals of the exoplanet. To further visualize the data, curve fitting was performed using Fourier series in order to deduce orbital peaks of υ\upsilon And b and estimate the planetary albedo. We were able to estimate values for a few parameters but at this point it has not been possible to separate planetary signal from the stellar signal. This task would require a sophisticated model and that was beyond the scope of this study

The study was conducted to determine the appropriate concentration of coconut water (CW) that enhance an efficient and cost effective protocol for rice micropropagation through callus induction and somatic embryogenesis.Seeds of a local Iraqi rice (Oryza sativa L.) cultivar Amber33, were used as explant which inoculated on basal medium consists of MS inorganic salts, Gamborg vitamins and supplemented with the auxin 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and the cytokinin Benzyl adenine (BA). In order to evaluate the role of CW, three concentrations (10, 20 and 30 g.l-1) were added to MS inorganic salts after the exclusion of growth regulators (2.4-D and BA) and Gamborg vitamins. Results showed that adding CW especially at concentration of 30g.l-1 have minimized the callus induction period, enhanced callus fresh weight and numbers and germination percentage of somatic embryos when compared with the media enriched with growth regulators only. Keywords: Rice, callus induction, Somatic embryogenesis, coconut water.

Politeness Strategies in Arabic Culture with Reference to Eulogy

    Get PDF
The present paper discusses an important subject in pragmatics: politeness strategies with reference to Arabic. At the beginning, it sheds the light upon some basic cultural facts which are necessary for everyday social interaction. Arab people have a set of verbal and non-verbal actions which should be respected by native citizens and foreigners as well. If a person violates these norms, this will lead to unsuccessful communication. These involve polite behavior towards adults, women, neighbours and strangers. The second part of the paper concentrates on one literary genre in Arabic i.e. 'praise'. Arab Poets pay great attention to praise because of the reward they get from kings and leaders. The study focuses on the impact of praise to maintain politeness in social communication. It concludes that Arab poets use images from their culture such as courage, generosity and nature to describe their kings. They resort to positive politeness through making reference to the superiority and high prestige of king

Validating dose rate calibration of radiotherapy photon beams through IAEA/WHO postal audit dosimetry service

    Get PDF
In external beam radiation therapy (EBRT), the quality assurance (QA) of the radiation beam is crucial to the accurate delivery of the prescribed dose to the patient. One of the dosimetric parameters that require monitoring is the beam output, specified as the dose rate on the central axis under reference conditions. The aim of this project was to validate dose rate calibration of megavoltage photon beams using the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)/World Health Organisation (WHO) postal audit dosimetry service. Three photon beams were audited: a 6 MV beam from the low-energy linac and 6 and 18 MV beams from a dual high-energy linac. The agreement between our stated doses and the IAEA results was within 1% for the two 6 MV beams and within 2% for the 18 MV beam. The IAEA/WHO postal audit dosimetry service provides an independent verification of dose rate calibration protocol by an international facility
